Olmec's Sanctum is a unique variation of the Bone Crypt Map in Path of Exile. It throws a twist on the usual layout, offering a challenging and rewarding experience. Here's a breakdown of what to expect:

Layout and Mechanics:

  • Olmec's Sanctum ditches the standard open areas of a Bone Crypt. Instead, it presents a labyrinthine structure with four distinct corridors.
  • Each corridor is themed around a different element: fire, cold, lightning, and chaos.
  • You'll encounter monsters aligned with their respective elements as you progress.

The Totem Guardians:

  • At the end of each elemental corridor, you'll face a powerful Totem Guardian. These guardians represent the element of their respective corridor.
  • Defeating each guardian is crucial, but it's not the final challenge.

The Central Chamber and The Hunger:

  • Once all four guardians are vanquished, a portal opens in the central chamber. This leads you to face the true challenge: The Hunger.
  • The Hunger is a monstrous amalgamation of all four elements, making it a formidable foe.
  • The fight against The Hunger is where your previous choices come into play.

Elemental Influence:

  • Each guardian you defeated dropped a signet ring imbued with their element.
  • Before entering the portal to The Hunger, you can choose to equip one of these signet rings.
  • The chosen element influences the fight:
    • Matching the element: Makes The Hunger slightly weaker to that element but empowers its other attacks.
    • Mismatching the element: Makes The Hunger stronger against that element but weakens its other attacks.

Rewards:

  • Olmec's Sanctum offers a chance for high-tier rewards due to its challenging nature.
  • You can expect valuable currency, unique items, and even maps with higher tiers.

Tips:

  • Elemental Resistances: Ensure you have balanced elemental resistances to mitigate damage from guardians and The Hunger.
  • Gear for Chaos Damage: The Hunger incorporates chaos damage, so some chaos resistance on your gear can be beneficial.
  • Single-Target Damage: Focus on skills that deal good single-target damage to take down the guardians and The Hunger efficiently.
  • Strategic Signet Choice: Consider your build's strengths and weaknesses when choosing a signet ring before facing The Hunger.

Additional Notes:

  • Olmec's Sanctum is a high-level map, recommended for experienced players with well-equipped characters.
  • The map provides a unique and exciting challenge, making it a favorite for players seeking a test of their skills and a chance to acquire exceptional loot.

Modifiers

The Final Boss drops higher Level Items mod means that Olmec, the All Stone drops items with +4 item level. This means in a 82 level (T15) version of the map those items will have level 88 (+2 for being unique map boss, +4 from the mod). The other monsters follow the regular drop rules.

Despite atlas reshuffle, this map can drop as T15 since version 3.9.0. The area level can be further modified via atlas passive skill. However, since there is no modifier that required item level higher than 86, there is no point to change the map area level beyond 82.

There is one more area modifier that is not showing in the map item: Area has increased monster variety.

Bosses

The map is shaped like an X, with each wing resembling a type of damage. At the end of each wing there is a boss room with a boss totem. When the boss is killed, the player goes back to the middle of the X by clicking the object and enter the portal. The player can then travel to another wing. When the fourth boss is killed, the final boss, Olmec, the All Stone, appears in the middle of the map and the doors close for the duration of the fight. He is a totem as well, dealing all forms of damage. The four previous totems also reappear and fight by his side, and will respawn if killed before Olmec falls. To fully complete the map, a minimum of 9 bosses have to be defeated.
