Exploration

  • The pacing of gameplay is very different throughout the game. Diablo IV has both short and longer, narrative-heavy side quests.
  • There will be a side quest that leads you into a dungeon under the chapel of the By Three They Come cinematic!
  • An important design detail was to balance dungeon size based on both player enjoyment and the build-up of atmosphere.

Discovery

  • Loading screens will not be a thing in Diablo IV’s open world – exploration should be seamless.
  • The overworld is obviously made to be discovered with lots of things to do like World Bosses, Strongholds, and much more.
  • As we already know, Altars of Lilith are hidden throughout the regions and will provide permanent stat boosts to your characters.
