Path of Exile (PoE) offers players numerous challenging encounters, especially when it comes to completing league-specific tasks. The "Cross Contamination" challenge is no exception, requiring players to engage in content from past leagues and combining them into a single, formidable encounter. To complete this challenge, you need to accomplish any four of the following tasks:

1. Defeat a Harbinger while you are in a Breach
2. Defeat a Unique Map Boss that is Possessed while in a Ritual
3. Defeat a Breachlord while affected by a Shrine
4. Defeat a Blight Boss while Delirious
5. Defeat a Delirium or Beyond Boss while in the Sacred Grove
6. Defeat a Syndicate Member that is Possessed

Defeat a Harbinger while you are in a Breach

Setup: Ensure your map contains both Harbinger and Breach mechanics. You can achieve this by using a Breach scarab and selecting a Harbinger-influenced map or by applying map device modifiers.

Strategy: Once in the map, locate a Breach and activate it. While the Breach is expanding and spawning monsters, lure a nearby Harbinger towards the Breach. Focus on managing both Harbinger adds and Breach monsters simultaneously.

Defeat a Unique Map Boss that is Possessed while in a Ritual

Setup: Use a map that has both Ritual altars and the Torment league modifier, which causes monsters to become possessed by Tormented Spirits.

Strategy: Activate a Ritual altar near the map boss. When the boss becomes possessed, engage and defeat it while completing the Ritual encounter. Ensure you have enough defenses and DPS to handle the empowered boss and Ritual monsters.

Defeat a Breachlord while affected by a Shrine

Setup: Choose a map with Breach mechanics and use a Shrine scarab or map modifier to add Shrines.

Strategy: Activate a Breach and clear it until the Breachlord appears. Simultaneously, make sure you activate a nearby Shrine to gain its buff. Defeat the Breachlord while the Shrine effect is active.

Defeat a Blight Boss while Delirious

Setup: Use a Blight scarab or map device modifier to add a Blight encounter to your map, and activate Delirium by using a Delirium orb or entering a Delirium mirror.

Strategy: Engage in the Blight encounter and build defensive towers. When the Blight Boss spawns, ensure you are still under the effects of Delirium. Use your skills and towers to defeat the Blight Boss while managing the additional monsters from Delirium.

Defeat a Delirium or Beyond Boss while in the Sacred Grove

Setup: Run a map that has Harvest mechanics (Sacred Grove) and either Delirium or Beyond modifiers.

Strategy: Enter the Sacred Grove and start a Harvest encounter. When Delirium or Beyond monsters appear, focus on defeating the spawned boss within the Sacred Grove.

Defeat a Syndicate Member that is Possessed

Setup: Engage in a Betrayal encounter and ensure that Tormented Spirits are present in the map by using a map modifier or scarab.

Strategy: Lure a Tormented Spirit towards a Syndicate Member during the Betrayal encounter. Once the Syndicate Member becomes possessed, focus on defeating them while handling their empowered abilities.

Tips for Success

• Preparation: Ensure you have high-quality gear, flasks, and skill setups to handle the increased difficulty of these encounters.
• Mobility: Use movement skills to evade dangerous attacks and reposition yourself effectively during chaotic fights.
• Defense: Utilize defensive skills and auras to mitigate incoming damage and increase your survivability.
• Focus Fire: Concentrate your damage on the primary target while managing additional monsters and environmental effects.

26. Cross Contamination(4) Necropolis 3.24

Complete any four of the following past league content encounters.

• Defeat a Unique Map Boss that is Possessed while in a Ritual. Maps with Unique Bosses are Possessed (Search).
• Capture a Beast holding an essence. Essence Scarab of Calcification: All Rare monsters in Area are imprisoned by Essences. Bestiary Scarab of the Herd: Area contains 5 additional Red Beasts if it contains Einhar.
• Defeat a Tier 4 Harvest Monster while Delirious.Delirium Orbs: Modifies a Map item adding layers of Delirium. Harvest Scarab of Cornucopia: If Area contains the Sacred Grove, it will contain up to 1 additional Tier 4 seed of each type, if possible.
• Defeat a Rogue Exile that is possessed at least three times. Anarchy Scarab of Partnership: Rogue Exiles in Area have a 50% chance to appear in pairs. Exile Pair Chance atlas skill: 10% chance for Rogue Exiles in your Maps to appear in Pairs. Exiled Will atlas notable: Rogue Exiles in your Maps are Possessed by a Tormented Spirit.
• Defeat a Blight Boss while in a Breach. Blight Scarab of Blooming: Blight Encounters in Area have up to 3 additional Unique Bosses.
• Defeat a Stygian Spire while affected by a Shrine.

1. Defeat a Rogue Exile that is possessed at least three times: This is a challenging but achievable feat. You can find details on how to tackle this encounter in my previous response about defeating possessed Exiles.

2. Capture a Beast holding an essence: This requires encountering both Beasts and Essences in the same map. Here's what you need to do:

   • Map Selection: Use maps with high Beast and Essence spawn rates. Examples include "Shaped Glenumbra" for Beasts and "Shaped Atoll" for Essences.
   • Net Mastery: Invest points in the "Net Mastery" passive skill in the Beastmaster Ascendancy tree. This increases your chance of capturing Beasts.
   • Essence Detection Gear: Equip gear with the "Increased Chance for Essences to be Rare" modifier. This helps you encounter higher-tier Essences that Beasts can potentially hold.
   • Prioritize Capture: Once you encounter a Beast, prioritize capturing it with a net. If it's holding an Essence, you'll successfully complete this challenge.

3. Defeat a Blight Boss while in a Breach: This is a hectic encounter that requires managing multiple threats simultaneously. Refer to my previous explanation on this challenge for detailed strategies.

4. Defeat a Stygian Spire while affected by a Shrine: This involves some luck and requires encountering both a Stygian Spire and a beneficial Shrine. You can find details on how to approach this challenge in my prior response about defeating Stygian Spires.

Remember:

• These encounters are from past leagues and may not be readily available in the current league you're playing. Check the official Path of Exile information for the current league mechanics.
• Each encounter requires a different approach. Adapt your strategy based on the specific challenge you're attempting.
• Don't get discouraged if you don't succeed on the first try. Persistence and adjusting your tactics will increase your chances of success.

Complete any four of the following past league content encounters.

• Defeat 5 Possessed Rogue Exiles in a single Map. Kirac Map Mods: Anarchy. Area is inhabited by 3 additional Rogue Exiles. Exile Pair Chance(atlas passive): 10% chance for Rogue Exiles in your Maps to appear in Pairs.
• Open a Cartograhper's Strongbox while affected by a Tempest. Kirac Map Mods: Ambush. Area contains 4 additional Strongboxes. Tempest Generator is the tier 1 incursion room of Topotante, Architect of Storms. It adds certain Tempests to the Temple.(search). Cartographer’s Strongbox Chance(atlas passive): Strongboxes in your Maps have 30% increased chance to be a Cartographer’s Strongbox
• Defeat a Blight Boss while affected by a Shrine. Kirac Map Mods: Blight. Area contains a Blight Encounter. more shrine + #% increased Duration of Shrine Effects on you. Distilled Fungus(atlas passive): Blight Encounters in your Maps contain up to 1 additional Blight Boss.
• Complete an Expedition while you are in a Breach. Kirac Map Mods: Expedition. Area contains an Expedition Encounter. Breach Scarab causes an Area to contain an additional Breach.
• Defeat a Syndicate Member that is Possessed. Kirac Map Mods: Torment. Area is haunted by 2 additional Tormented Spirits(Possessed). Syndicate league mechanics: Betrayal. Jun gives missions involving tracking down members of the Immortal Syndicate.
• Complete an Ultimatum while Delirious. Kirac Map Mods: Ultimatum. Area contains an Ultimatum Encounter. While Delirious: Delirium league. Delirium Orbs are currency items that can be applied to maps to add layers of Delirium and grant specific rewards.

Complete any four of the following past league content encounters.

• Defeat a Possessed Map Boss while in a Ritual. Unrelenting Torment(atlas passive): Map Bosses have 10% chance to be surrounded by Tormented Spirits. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains Ritual Altars. Map: Unique Bosses are Possessed.
• Defeat a Legion General while you are in a Breach. Face Off(Atlas Passive Tree): Legion Encounters in your Maps are 60% more likely to include a General. Legion Encounters with a General in your Maps have both Generals. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains 2 additional Breaches.
• Defeat a Breachlord while Delirious. Breachstone: the Breachlords are five endgame bosses, located inside the five types of Breaches. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains a Mirror of Delirium.
• Defeat a Beyond Boss while affected by a Shrine. Torn Veil (Atlas Passive Tree): Beyond Portals in your Maps have 30% increased chance to spawn a Unique Boss. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains 3 additional Shrines.
• Defeat a Metamorph and Harbinger within 10 seconds of the first dying. Players can use combination of the collected organs to create the Metamorph monster: Metamorph Brain, Metamorph Eye, Metamorph Lung, Metamorph Heart and Metamorph Liver. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains 3 additional Harbingers.
• Defeat an Essence Monster while affected by a Tempest. Chronicle of Atzoatl: Has Room: Tempest Generator. Kirac Map Mods: Area contains 2 additional Essences.

• Defeat a Delirium or Beyond Boss while in the Sacred Grove.
