D4 Gold Pickup & Farm

Gold is the main currency of Sanctuary, used across most Vendors and Crafters.
Gold can be used to refund points invested into the Skill Tree or Paragon.
Earned from most activities in Sanctuary and selling items.

Sell Items

You’ll be able to sell the items you picked up for a much bigger profit. Sell items by going to any vendor and using the right-click on the item you want to sell.

Be sure to keep any Items which provide significant buffs to your character, and sell the rest for easy Gold.

The gear tiers in order are common, magic, rare, legendary and unique. As the following example shows, a normal item can be exchanged for ~973 gold, a Legendary item can be sold for 30,908 gold, and a unique item is worth at least 95,851 gold.

Kill Monsters

The more monsters you slain, the more gold you will farm.

Most monsters in Diablo 4 have a chance of dropping gold when you defeat them, and having already dirtied your hands with killing, you might as well rob them while you’re at it. Elite monsters drop the best loot and the most gold, but you’re almost guaranteed something for your troubles.

Monster families have higher chances to drop certain types of items – for example, Skeletons can drop crossbows as a bonus, no matter the class you are playing.

Dungeons

While more difficult than regular dungeons, Nightmare Dungeons provide plenty of Gold, Experience, and high-level loot like Uniques and Legendaries due to their high mob density and frequency of Elite mobs.

In addition, finishing Nightmare Dungeons allows you to upgrade your Paragon Glyphs, letting you enhance your character’s power even further while earning Gold.

Open chests

Chests contain D4 gold and pikcup more chests. Grand Cache contains gear with a focus on one-handed weapons, gems, gold, and crafting materials.

Complete Quests

You farm both gold and XP for completing quests in D4, and while those injections may be irregular, they can also offer some of the biggest payouts in the game. Main quests typically offer bigger paydays than side quests but gold is gold, and it’s worth taking part in all the quests you come across if you want more of it.

World Bosses

We also highly recommend participating in World Boss events whenever they appear on the map. World Bosses may be tough to take down, but they reward plenty of Legendaries and high-level loot that you can salvage and sell for lots of Gold and Upgrade Materials.

Level up in Renown

Lots of activities in Diablo 4 grant Renown, from completing quests to unlocking new map areas. Every Renown level you gain nets you a nice payday of 10,000 gold.

Tree of Whispers Bounties

While not as immediately lucrative as the other methods, clearing out Whispers of the Dead bounties from the Tree of Whispers is still an excellent source of Gold, Experience, and loot, especially if you receive a Greater Collection Grand Cache from turning in Grim Favors.

In addition, the Grand Caches you receive from these bounties can reward you with Nightmare Sigils, allowing you to continue grinding Nightmare Dungeons.

Participate in challenges

Whether it’s a limited-time World Event, an in-game achievement, a combat challenge Cellar, a full-on Dungeon, or even a World Boss, there are plenty of challenges in Diablo 4 that define the term “high risk, high reward”. Just bear in mind that these are often designed with multiplayer in mind, so consider teaming up with a few friends before starting your expedition!

World Tier 2+

World Tier	Description
World Tier 1: Adventurer	Recommended for new players to Diablo or want a light challenge. Enemies are easy to defeat. Drops are average.
World Tier 2: Veteran	Recommended for Diablo veterans who want to be tested. Enemies will challenge you. Better drops. Increased XP & Gold.
World Tier 3: Nightmare	For players who desire more challenge. Unlocked by completing the Cathedral of Light dungeon in World Tier 2: Veteran. Recommended Level: 50. Champion monsters now have a chance to appear. Sacred items now have a low chance of dropping. Nightmare Sigils which in turn unseal Nightmare Dungeons are unlocked. Players gain 100% XP bonus. Non-Physical resistances are reduced by 20%.
World Tier 4: Hell	Even stronger challenges await in the dark. Unlocked by completing the Fallen Temple dungeon in World Tier 3: Nightmare. Recommended Level: 60. Sacred items drop more frequently. Rare Nightmare Sigils unsealing more difficult challenges are unlocked. Players gain 150% XP bonus. Non-Physical resistances are reduced by 30%.
World Tier 5: Torment	Fight the strongest, most fierce demons in all of Sanctuary. Unlocked by completing the Archives of Issalia dungeon in World Tier 4: Hell. Recommended Level: 70. Ancestral items have a low chance of dropping. New Unique items can be found. Players gain 250% XP bonus. Non-Physical resistances are reduced by 40%.

Greed Shrine

Shrines in Diablo 4 provide temporary buffs to your character by boosting stats or granting unique effects, tremendously increasing your kill speed. They are rare to find in the Open World, but appear quite often in Dungeons.

Greed Shrine: Enemies drop Gold when you hit them with a skill or another shrine effect. The amount of Gold dropped scales with the difficulty of the content you are doing. The additional pickup radius allows you to pick up Gold without walking directly over it.

Treasure Goblins

Treasure Goblins are a rare spawn that can appear in the open environment, as well as inside dungeons. You can even see it on the minimap when one is close, as well as a distinct sound you can hear. When you see one, drop everything you’re currently doing and pursue it, as they can de-spawn after some time after being hit, and they carry lots of valuables, from Gold to Legendaries.
